Adult Education
Adult Faith Formation is a very integral part of the Church of St. Pius X
faith community. It is inseparable from where faith formation begins and where it ends.
Whenever the church gathers, the scriptures are present. These rituals of prayer and liturgy nourish and sustain us.
Liturgy is an action of a community: people who share at least something of a history, a belonging to one another, a common suffering, a common hope. Liturgy helps to create that community because it can be a deep affirmation of what we share, what binds us together. The skills that that go into doing the Sunday parish Eucharist well are a form of faith formation. Participation in the liturgy through lector training, eucharistic ministry training, ministers of hospitality, musicians, cantors is ongoing faith formation and is available to all members of our assembly. If you are interested in any of these ministries contact the Director of Music and Liturgy. An Adult Bible Study offers the opportunity to further explore the readings from the Sunday liturgies. Although we use the scriptures every time we gather for prayer, it takes a long time to make them a part of our lives. Good study materials facilitate thoughtful discussions on how the scriptures are alive for us today. Bible study groups meet on a regular basis on weekday evenings. Additional opportunities for faith-sharing are available during Lent. Please contact the parish office for more information. Faith formation for new parents wishing to prepare themselves for their child's reception of the Sacrament of Baptism is offered in the Pre-Jordan program. This program is offered every other month on the first Monday evening. Pre-Jordan reservations are made at the parish office. You must be a member of the Church of St. Pius X and have registered at the parish office that is located at 1315 12th Avenue NW. Arrangements may be made for special circumstances by contacting parish office. Training sessions are available for couples wishing to facilitate Pre-Jordan. Any couples interested in this training may contact the Faith Formation office. Parent Orientation sessions are held for parents of children receiving the sacraments of First Reconciliation, First Eucharist and Confirmation. If you are new to the parish and your child has not received these sacraments please see RCIC and/or contact the Faith Formation office. Family activities are planned by the combined efforts of the Faith Formation Team and the Faith Formation Committee. Please check your bulletin or the Faith Formation calendar for the next event. Plans are being made to have Listening Sessions among the parish members concerning the types of events, classes, etc. they would like to see implemented in our parish. This will be done by age group, and the information with be shared with the Faith Formation Team and Faith Formation Commission. Watch the bulletin form more details. If anyone has topics they wish to be considered, please contact the Faith Formation office. |
