The Renovation Team welcomes you to our web page. On this page we have tried to give you a snapshot of the renovation plans and progress of St. Pius X; if you have further questions please contact any of the renovation committee members. Additionally you may reach our Director of Renovation, Denise DeRienzo Monday through Friday from 8 am – 4 pm at 507-288-8238, ext. 11. Pictures of our Master Plan are available on this web page. A copy of the Master Plan is available in the parish office. Let us share with you a recent condensed history of our renovation progress and bring you up to date. As our renovation team began meeting they developed a 20 year master plan. We have accomplished much since we started just over 5½ years ago. We finished the renovation of our school and addition of new heating/air conditioning systems through funds raised in the Seeds of Faith Diocesan Campaign. Through our next fundraising effort, Fulfilling our Promise, we paid off the original renovation loan that made it possible for us to add a new air-conditioning system for our church and school ahead of schedule. Following the objectives set forth in our 2006 Fulfilling Our Promise campaign; another exciting step of our Master Plan is complete. On June 16 asbestos removal of the Convent/Annex/Faith Formation office building began. In the following 6 weeks, our demolition crew was on site. They carefully demolished and removed the building. Next, a crew was here grading the space and getting it ready to lay sod; our sod was laid on July 24 and July 25. The plan for this space is to be a play area for our children after the grass has had enough time to take root. (Pictures of our new space are available on this web page.)After our 2006 Fulfilling Our Promise fund-raising campaign a significant number of parishioners were concerned with the delay of the renovation of our church, the prospective cost and the demolition of the rectory. We all realize that our church needs attention. Based upon input from many sources, merely repairing only the neediest items, such as pews and kneelers, painting the ceiling, etc. would make follow-on repairs and renovation even more costly. It could even result in damaging already renovated items. Because of these concerns, the Renovation Committee revisited the parish’s master plan to address these concerns. A revised plan was presented to the parish in September of 2007. Parishioners were invited to Kennedy Hall after each mass to hear our architect and contractor describe the revised plan and answer questions. 285 people attended these meetings. The response was very positive. The widespread support for the new plan lead the Renovation Committee, Pastoral Council, Finance Council as well as Father Nelson and Father Collins to believe that we should move forward now with the renovation of our church. After Masses in November and December of 2007, 281 families made their pledges for our church and gathering space project. In February of 2008 the Renovation team, Pastoral and Finance Council and parish staff put together a team of 49 volunteers to contact the remaining 946 families who had not pledged to the Church Renovation Project – we were hoping to reach everyone by phone and personal contact. We, the members of the renovation fund drive team, apologize for not contacting you by phone and a personal visit during this most recent Church Renovation Fund Drive. In this latest fund drive process we have been able to raise almost $750,000. Additionally through the generosity of friends and family members of deceased parishioners almost $10,000 has been donated to our renovation fund drive efforts. We know many of you have already made pledges and contributions, but even with those efforts we are significantly short of the necessary level of pledges and contributions needed to get started. Prior to starting any capital project the Diocese of Winona requires us to have 1/2 of the funds needed in cash ($1,200,000.00) and ½ of the funds needed in pledges ($1,200,000.00). Currently we have approximately $667,031.00 in our Renovation Savings account, and $903,592.00 in pledges. We will have ONE MILLION, FIVE HUNDRED SEVENTY THOUSAND, and SIX HUNDRED TWENTY - THREE DOLLARS when all the current pledges are paid. This process will take 3 and ¾ more years. This good news is still not enough to get us started. After all of the current pledges have been paid in full we will only need $829,377.00 in 2008 dollars to complete the revised church renovation plans. This is where you come in. The Renovation Team, Pastoral and Finance Councils and Fr. Collins are asking for your help to renovate our church and add a gathering space that will take the buildings of St. Pius X far into the future. We need every member of our parish to help with this much needed renovation. Please consider a financial pledge based upon your personal financial status. If you have not yet made a pledge to assist in this wonderful and much needed project, call the parish offices and ask for a pledge card. Please fill out your pledge card, if possible make a 10% down payment and place it in the collection basket or send it to the parish offices. If it isn’t possible for you to make a pledge at this time, call us to let us know. Our goal is to get a response from every parishioner. If we do not hear from you, please graciously accept a follow-up telephone call from a fellow parishioner. With or without a contribution, we ask for your prayers in the weeks and months ahead. On behalf of the members of the Renovation Team, Fund Raising Team, Pastoral Council and Finance Council, parish staff, Fr. Nelson and Fr. Collins, we wish to thank you for your time; your dedication to our parish; your prayers and your contributions.
